Packing Tips

In addition to the selection of Moving and Packing supplies and products Woodstock Hardware can also provide you the technical expertise required to help you make sure you are getting the products that best meet your needs.  Here are a few tips to help you the next time you start to pack up something.   

  • Do not just buy the “biggest” boxes you can find. Remember big boxes get heavy when filled.
  • Used boxes may not be as “good a deal” as you think. Used boxes are usually weaker than packing boxes and may not hold up during your travels. Be careful to make sure used boxes do not contain any unwanted insects. 
  • Have a good supply of small plastic bags handy. These bags are easily labeled and can be used to keep small parts together. When disassembling anything put all the parts in a plastic bag and tape the bag to the bigger pieces.  
  • Make sure you have a good permanent marker, or two, handy. Clearly marking boxes in large print will help you save time when you are looking for that one special box. 
  • And use the right tape. Taping card board boxes is just about the one thing duck/duct tape is no good for. Make sure you get a good clear packing or strapping tape to pack your boxes. Many of these tapes come with or fit in an inexpensive dispenser making your taping job even easier.
